Background:
Hale School was founded in 1840 to serve the local village of Hale in Surrey. Since then it has been expanded to include a Nursery and Infant school. The Victorian school buildings have grade II listed status and the grounds incorporate playing fields, environmental areas and a swimming pool. The new school hall and library area built in 1989 was awarded the national Civic Trust Award. A new infant library was opened in March 2000 and a new Information and Communications Technology suite in September 2002. Extra-curricular activities include netball, swimming, orchestra, gardening, athletics, cricket, computers, rounders, art and cross-country. The school has its own orchestra and junior choir.
