Background:
The Matthew Arnold Business and Enterprise College is a mixed comprehensive, community and secondary school. It came into being in 1975 by the amalgamation of the former boys' and girls' schools opened in 1947. The school offers a high standard of secondary education to pupils between the ages of 11 and 16 in Staines. Pupils come from most primary schools in the Spelthorne area. The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, rugby and choir. It provides various activities to enhance the learning of pupils. Its excellent facilities include: a floodlit Astroturf, hard court, vast playing fields, massive sports hall, dance studio, fitness centre. The school aims to develop its pupils based on a culture of respect, cooperation and self-control.
