Background:

The school's main building built in 1938. Recent developments include 10 laboratory science block opened in 1991, a technology suite and five badminton court sports hall (1993) and second technology suite (1995). A major two-storey building incorporating sixth form centre, resource area, conference room, lecture theatre plus teaching and office accommodation (2005).The games field is a short walk away and comprises 17 pitches for soccer and rugby as well as three cricket squares. The school aims to provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities including computer club, young engineers club, chess club and orchestra. It has a strong house system and competitions such as debating, drama, music, chess and variety of sports. Every Saturday in winter, up to 12 soccer teams, 10 rugby teams and three cross-country teams are in action and in summer there are six cricket teams. The school is frequently represented in county, southeast England and national competitions. Life at Glyn retains the virtues of the past adapted to the needs of the present and the probabilities of the future.
