Background:

Situated close to the centre of Woking, St John the Baptist Catholic Comprehensive School was established in 1969. Children are welcomed from other denominations, although the school was founded for the education of Catholic children in the area and it is the governors' intention that the Catholic character of the school must be maintained. All students study two languages (French, with a choice of German or Italian) in Years 7, 8 and 9, and may continue either one or both languages to GCSE. Specialist language college status; the aim is for every child to go abroad on an exchange visit, study visit, or for work-experience. Before-school care, from 8.15am; after-school care, until 5.45pm. Over-subscribed, with 1.2 applications per place.
