Background:
Ravenscote Community Junior School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is seven to 11. In early 1970 on the recommendation of the North Western Divisional Executive, the new secondary school was to be named as Tomlinscote County Secondary School, this being the historic name of the area, which the school will serve. The School moved to its present premises in September 1972. Ella McLeod was one who started at the school in 1972. In November 1984, the school was awarded the Schools Curriculum Award and the certificate is on show in the school entrance. It states, awarded in November 1984 to Ravenscote County Middle School. The school offers extra-curricular activities and in the course of the year children can take part in choir, junior, senior and purple harmony, recorders, orchestra, athletics, football, netball, cross country, chess, drama, cricket, games club and girls football.
