Background:
Ashford CofE Primary School is administered by the London Diocesan Board of Education and Surrey County Council. The school dates its origins in 1817 when there was founded in Ashford the 'Sunday School Charity'. There have been many additions. In 1933 the school was enlarged and remodelled. The school keeps its close associations with the Parish Church of St Matthew, through which it has its origins. Each class in the school has at least one multimedia computer. The aim of the teaching of music is for enjoyment leading to an appreciation of music. Children become acquainted with music by listening to it and taking part in it vocally, instrumentally and by movement. Children are involved from the start of their life at school in productions and concerts. The school aims to help children find a middle path between the twin concepts of responsibility for one's own actions.
