Background:
The school which originally opened in 1855 in the village of St John's moved to its present site in 1972. The school is associated to the Church of England. The pupils regularly attend St John's Church for celebrations. It was initially built as a first school but a second block was added later so there are four purpose-built over lower school classrooms and seven other teaching areas housed in the modern, single-storey building, along with a library, special needs room and information and communication technology suite and music room. The buildings are set in natural wooded surroundings, which include a wooded play area and an environmental wild area. The school aims to encourage children in the vigorous pursuit of excellence in all areas.
