Background:

Our Lady of the Rosary RC Primary School was founded in 1893 and has been at its present location since 1967. It is a school providing Christian education for children aged four to 11 years. The school provides modern buildings consisting of 11 classrooms, a library, a hall, administration block and kitchen. The grounds are pleasant and set in a quiet residential area. The curriculum offered is broad and balanced and children excel in both the core and foundation subjects. Enjoyment of subject matter is enhanced by numerous visits from the school to places of interest and by inviting guests to speak to pupils. The school takes part in sporting competitions within the borough of Spelthorne and has a good measure of success. A variety of extra-curricular clubs are offered including football, netball, gymnastics, athletics, gardening, chess, drama, guitar, computer, French and art. There is provision for preparatory school children with a playschool run five days a week, and after-school care on weekdays for working parents. Links with the community are strong, via the church and fundraising activity. Money is raised both for the school and for the needy in this country and abroad. The school aims to be a welcoming Catholic school, based on Gospel values, where everyone is respected for their faith, talents, needs, personality and home background.
