Background:

St Andrew's School is the primary school in the community of Cobham, for children of ages five to 11. Through its status as a voluntary controlled school, it has strong links with the Church of England. The main part of the building that the school occupies was built originally as a secondary school and opened in 1958. The school is situated on one of the most attractive sites in Surrey, on many green acres with unrivalled facilities for a primary school. Outdoor the children use the netball, football, rugby and rounders pitches as well as the excellent athletics track and artificial cricket wicket. Junior playground area caters for ball games. Other facilities include a 25 metre heated swimming pool which is used by all children during the summer term. Inside the school there are 14 class bases with four quiet rooms and a purpose-built special needs unit. The school also has well-equipped infant and junior libraries and two large halls. The junior library also contains a well-equipped computer suite. The school offers a variety of out of school activities or clubs, both during the lunchtime and after-school. These include chess club, badminton, technology, country dancing, basketball and table tennis. Based on Christian ethos the school aims to provide a caring environment that creates an atmosphere in which everyone can feel happy, confident and secure, enabling all members of the school community to achieve their full potential.
